| Chiefs Clip Suns, 4-3 | The Chiefs earned a hard-fought, 4-3 win in 11 innings at Wilshire Park. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Los Angeles pitcher Pete Meissner. Meissner went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 run. The triumph makes Chicago 12-27.
Chicago relied on the hitting of Don Barker to pick up the win. The third baseman ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Chiefs on top, 4-3. For the game, Barker had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Los Angeles skipper Jim Coulter.
