 | Win Gives Vaughan New Record Saturday, January 19th , 1952 Today at HolguÃn Stadium Alex Vaughan of the Camagüey Coyotes posted his 9th victory of the year and broke the league single-season mark set previously by Butch Lindsay. Commenting to the press after the game Vaughan gave the secret to his success, "You don't have to make a big study of the batters before the game. I just throw low and away or high and tight, and remember to throw the curveball below the belt. Just keep your life and pitching simple and you'll get along quite well."
