| Brooks Magic in 3-0 Shutout Thursday, September 21st , 1916 All went well for Tom Brooks of the Houston Drummers as he pitched his team to a shutout victory, 3-0, over the Austin Empresarios, limiting them to 5 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Brooks on the day.
"Tom's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Drummers manager Frank McCabe. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Houston right-hander rang up 2 and surrendered 4 walks.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Empresarios manager Daniel McFarlin. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
This season, Brooks shows a 15-11 record in 30 games, 258.1 innings, 107 strikeouts, and a 2.61 ERA. | | |
