Bill Blake, the talented Indianapolis right fielder, certainly made his name known among Century League hurlers this season. He hammered them for 165 hits, 38 doubles, 4 triples, 17 home runs, 97 RBIs and scored 79 times. That kind of output made him the choice for Century League Most Valuable Player Award for 1974.

He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 8. Sam Calhoun of the Omaha Plainsmen finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Owen Drake of the Little Rock Governors finished third.
