CL Reliever of the Year Award Winner Named
Sunday, October 6th , 1974
Vinnie Ghinato said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 25 years old.

But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Des Moines Devils rising star has won the Century League Reliever of the Year Award for 1974.

He captured the award on the strength of his 3.52 ERA over 87 innings. He also had 17 saves in 56 relief appearances, 96 strikeouts and only 53 walks.

He received 4 first place votes out of a possible 8. Pat Wagner of the Denver Bruins finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while John Mitchell of the Oklahoma City Warriors finished third.
