| Albany Halts Lewis's Hitting Steak Friday, August 17th , 1917 The Albany Legislators got more than the 5-3 victory at Narragansett Park -- they also put an end to the 20-game hitting streak of Providence Clippers first baseman Leo Lewis by holding him without a hit in 3 at-bats.
After the game, Lewis seemed more concerned with his team taking the loss than with the demise of his streak.
"I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit," he said. "I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today."
Lewis is currently hitting at a .284 pace with no home runs, 33 RBIs and has scored 55 times. | | |
