Knapp Silences Buffalo, 5-0
Sunday, August 12th , 1917
Bill Knapp led the Rochester Millers to a shutout victory, 5-0, over the Buffalo Lake Captains at Brown's Race Park.

"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Knapp recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."

Knapp yielded 5 hits and had 6 strikeouts and 3 walks in the standout performance.

"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Buffalo manager Walter Bunting said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."

This season, Knapp has hit at a .302 clip with 32 RBIs, 1 home runs and 26 runs scored. He has played in 61 games.
