 | Fye 5-for-7 Against Salt Barons Sunday, July 22nd , 1917 Albany Legislators center fielder Bruce Fye had a day to remember at Capitol Park Grounds, ripping apart the Syracuse Salt Barons and sparking the 5-4 Legislators win. Fye wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-7. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Fye told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Bruce Fye grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, flied out in the 10th, singled in the 13th and hit an RBI single in the 14th. Fye is currently hitting at a .374 pace with 1 home run and 40 RBIs. He has played in 93 games and scored 36 times. | |
