 | WF Star of the Week Picked Monday, August 20th , 1917 Indianapolis fans have something to crow about today as Indianapolis left fielder Joe O'Connell nabbed the Western Federation Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said O'Connell. He posted a .632 average (12-for-19) this past week with no home runs, 4 RBIs, and 5 runs scored. To date O'Connell has chalked up a .346 average with 7 home runs, driven in 46 runs and scored 43 times. | |
