 | Packers End Phelps Streak Wednesday, August 1st , 1917 Carl Phelps of the St. Joseph Saints came up empty at the plate and went hitless in 3 at-bats for the first time in 21 games. Making matters even worse for the center fielder, St. Joseph dropped the game to the Omaha Packers, 4-2. "It was not a good day today," Phelps told the press in postgame comments. "We lost the game and the streak is over." In 63 games Phelps is hitting .360 this season with 89 hits, 1 home run, 28 RBIs, 11 walks, .388 OBP and has scored 43 runs. |   |
