 | Western Federation Names Top Player Monday, August 28th , 1916 Ben Malec of the St. Paul Crusaders put the wraps on a fantastic week of play by being named the Western Federation Player of the Week. The hot-hitting center fielder was a bonafide batting machine as he racked up 12 hits in 27 at-bats, no home runs, .444 BA, 6 RBIs, 6 runs, 4 walks and a .516 OBP.
