 | Alexander Mows Down Colorado Springs, 5-0 Saturday, August 26th , 1916 Everything clicked on the hill for Bill Alexander, as he hurled the Des Moines Browns to a shutout win, 5-0, over the Colorado Springs Pioneers, limiting them to 4 hits while recording 5 strikeouts and yielding 4 walks. He overpowered some batters with fastballs and buckled knees with sharp breaking pitches. "We had our shot at him a couple of different times," Pioneers manager Jack McSorley said. "We just weren't able to get to him." So far this season, Alexander has a record of 10-10 with 86 strikeouts and 70 walks in 207 innings and a 3.91 ERA. |   |
