| Packers Listless in 6-0 Loss to Pioneers Saturday, July 15th , 1916 Buddy Mullen led the Colorado Springs Pioneers to a shutout victory, 6-0, over the Omaha Packers at Pioneer Park.
"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Mullen recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."
Mullen yielded 4 hits and had 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in the standout performance.
"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Omaha manager Ed Dibrell said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."
In 17 starts this season, Mullen has compiled a 13-5 record and a 2.75 ERA. | | |
