 | Omaha Shuts Out Des Moines, 3-0 Saturday, June 24th , 1916 Dick Mathews of the Omaha Packers was masterful, pitching a 8-hit shutout, 3-0, against the Des Moines Browns. By going the distance, he was at the same time able to give his bullpen a rest, a fact appreciated by Omaha manager Ed Dibrell. "It's nice to have someone who can do that from time to time," he said. "He had command of every ball and every pitch. Great location, too." Mathews had 1 strikeout and 4 walks in the outing.
