| Peters Spins 4-0 Shutout Against Dallas Thursday, May 8th , 1975 Elmer Peters of the San Francisco Sailors was on top of his game.
The 28-year-old tantalized the Dallas Wranglers with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 4-0.
"He had the changeup working," Dallas manager Vic Kramer said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The San Francisco hurler had 2 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 2 hits in his complete-game effort.
Peters told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
To date this year, Peters shows a 1-1 record, 6 starts, 42 innings, 14 strikeouts and a 2.79 ERA.
