 | Pittsburgh Loses Jimmy Blair for Season Sunday, May 27th , 1962 The Pittsburgh Miners were dealt a severe blow when Jimmy Blair was hurt throwing a pitch recently in a game against the Philadelphia Keystones. After the game, the team trainer reported Blair might have to spend a lengthy time on the injured list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 24-year-old starting pitcher out for the rest of the season with a torn meniscus. They indicated it would take Blair at least 5 months to heal.
