Alford was spectacular in 35 starting assignments with 17 wins and 9 losses, 276 innings, 139 strikeouts and a fine 2.35 ERA.
He received 17 first place votes out of a possible 24. Herm Quinn of the Cincinnati Cannons finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Jim White of the New York Imperials finished third with 2 first place votes.
