 | Stars, Dynamos Close Deal Wednesday, October 30th , 1974 Done deal! The Los Angeles Stars have agreed to send 26-year old 2B Melvin Williams to the Detroit Dynamos for 27-year old RHP Pedro Ortiz and 21-year old minor league LF Hank Hopkins. The trade, rumored for days, was completed in the wee hours this morning. Williams is hitting at a .249 rate over his 360-game career. Lifetime he has 27 doubles, 4 triples and 17 home runs with 87 RBIs and 99 runs scored. In his career, the 27-year-old Ortiz has put up a 3.22 ERA and a 7-4 mark. |   |
