San Francisco Swaps Allen to Boston for Baylor
Wednesday, October 23rd , 1974
It took some time to iron out the details, but the Sailors and Minutemen have agreed to a swap. Boston will get 29-year old 3B Joe Johnson and 24-year old minor league CF Pat Allen with San Francisco receiving 27-year old RHP Johnny Baylor in return. A source close to the trade talks said the two clubs were initially looking to make a bigger deal, but discussions broke off late last night. The two sides reconvened early today and eventually settled on this deal.

In his whole career, the 27-year-old Baylor has won 15 and lost 15, piling up 143 strikeouts and 125 walks in 276 innings with a 3.88 ERA. Opponents have hit .265 against him.
