Kings Triumph in 1974 World Championship Series
Friday, October 18th , 1974
For the Seattle Kings, it was a joyful time; for the Atlanta Copperheads, it was gloom and doom.

With a 4-3 win at Seattle Municipal Stadium, Seattle closed out the championship 4-3 over Atlanta.

The Kings have now won their 4th league championship in franchise history. The streets around the Kings' stadium were a mob scene, filling quickly with fans, while banners and flags were held high and waved proudly.

"It's unbelievable for us, our great fans, and all of Seattle," said a smiling owner Chester Coleman. "The guys really put their heart and soul into this season and it paid off for them."

In a somewhat somber and dejected Copperheads clubhouse, manager Don Fox said his team "just didn't get the job done."

"The Kings played as good as any team I've seen and deserve to be champions," he said.

The champs finished the regular season 98-64 and claimed first place in the Continental Association West.
