 | St. Louis Deals Gilman to Montreal for Smith Monday, December 11th , 1961 St. Louis and Montreal have agreed in principle to a trade. The Pioneers will send 22-year old minor league CF Bill Gilman to the Saints for 34-year old 1B Walter Medlin, 19-year old minor league RF Grady Smith, and $24,000 in cash. The deal is expected to be finalized shortly and the clubs will be introducing their new players to the press when the paperwork is complete. Montreal will retain a portion of Medlin's remaining contract. |   |
