 | The Math Says - Boston Out of Playoffs Thursday, September 27th , 1917 It won't be a season to remember for the Boston Beacons, as the club has officially missed out on the playoffs. The Beacons were mathematically eliminated from qualification today. "With any luck, in a couple years we will look back on the 1917 season as an important stepping stone to a title," said Boston catcher Jake Toler. This is the club's 3rd playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 1914. In total, the Beacons have missed the playoffs 16 times in their 17-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Beacons have only made the playoffs once. Boston last won the World's Championship Series in 1914. |   |
