| Ault Fires No-Hitter Against Toronto Sunday, September 23rd , 1917 In a dominant outing, John Ault of the Baltimore Cannons totally silenced the bats of the Toronto Beavers, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the 3-0 victory, Ault faced only 31 batters, surrendered no hits, had 5 strikeouts and 3 walks.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Baltimore manager Monty Beatson said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Máximo Rios had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game.
"The Cannons had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Ault pitched a heck of a ballgame."
So far this season, Ault has 10 wins and 16 losses and a 2.89 ERA.
