Gibson's Treatment Not Going Well, Suffers Setback Saturday, November 11th , 1961 Jack Gibson's return to the Chicago Cougars has been delayed. The 26-year-old second baseman has been in treatment for a ruptured medial collateral ligament and was responding well until he suffered sharp pains during a light workout. Upon examination by team doctors they reported that there had been further damage and Gibson will not be back as originally diagnosed. He will now be out at least 12 months.
Jack Gibson is expected to undergo surgery in Chicago(Illinois) tomorrow.
Lifetime Gibson is hitting .291 and has totaled 123 home runs.
