When the name of Billy Hasson appeared on the St. Louis lineup card in 1961, it was a virtual guarantee of a victory or at least a well-pitched game. For his brilliant performance this season he was named the Federal Association Allen Award winner today.

He started 33 games, running up a 19-8 record and a 2.85 ERA. Hasson held opponents to a .217 average while striking out 188, walking 85 and allowing 204 hits in 256 innings of work.

He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 16. Steve Madden of the St. Louis Pioneers finished second in voting, while Jorge Arellano of the Philadelphia Keystones finished third with 1 first place vote.
