 | Detroit Playoff Hopes Officially Zero Sunday, October 1st , 1916 It's a better-luck-next-year situation for the Detroit Lancers, as the club today became mathematically eliminated from postseason consideration. Team manager Frank McGrath said, "It's always a letdown" to miss the playoffs, but added that the club's effort was appreciated. The Lancers have missed the playoffs 11 times in their 16 years as a Federally Aligned Baseball Leagues franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 6th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 1910. In the last 10 seasons, the Lancers have missed the playoffs 5 times. Detroit last won the World's Championship Series in 1910. |   |
