He may have less experience than most of his Federally Aligned Baseball Leagues peers, but that didn't slow Tom Lorang down at all in 1963.

At the age of 22, the Washington second baseman has been named the winner of the Federal Association Whitney Award.

He had a .378 batting average and a .461 on-base percentage this year. In 161 games he piled up 242 hits, 35 doubles, 17 triples, 35 home runs, 128 RBIs and 147 runs scored.

"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."

He received 16 first place votes out of a possible 20. Bob Bell of the St. Louis Pioneers finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Harry Dellinger of the Philadelphia Keystones finished third.
