Cannons Suffer 9-0 Drubbing from Kings Tuesday, September 24th , 1963 The Cincinnati Cannons met their match today in Kansas City hurler Johnnie Higgins. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 3-hit shutout.
"He just worked us over," Cincinnati skipper Hal Upton said. "He probably didn't even need a shower after the game -- he barely worked up a sweat."
In the 9-0 victory, Higgins whiffed 10 and gave up 1 walk.
Over the season Higgins has thrown 214.1 innings and dished out 161 strikeouts with a 15-7 mark and a 3.02 ERA.
