Bell Rips 3 Homers Against Suns
Wednesday, August 21st , 1963
The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Los Angeles Suns.

St. Louis second baseman Bob Bell tripled up on the home runs to propel the Pioneers to a win, 7-6, at Pioneer Field III.

"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Los Angeles manager Bill Morrill said. "Bell hit the heck out of the ball."

In addition to the homers, Bell collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.

"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."

Bob Bell walked in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jim Foster in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Jim Foster in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Whitey Stewart in the 9th.

This season, Bell has hit at a .346 clip with 81 RBIs, 32 home runs and 89 runs scored. He has played in 125 games.
