 | Blast Off! 3 HR for Lorang Wednesday, August 21st , 1963 Tom Lorang brutalized the New York Gothams pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 12-10 Washington victory at Gotham Stadium. The Washington Eagles second baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Too much Tom Lorang today," Gothams manager Harry Davis said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Tom Lorang struck out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Clarence Reimer in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Chris Sargent in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Jim Hawkins in the 8th. Lorang is hitting .369 for the season with 27 home runs, 95 RBIs and 115 runs scored. He has 185 hits in 502 at-bats and played in 127 games. |   |
