| Wolves End Chapin Streak Thursday, August 1st , 1963 Bonnie Chapin, center fielder for the Cincinnati Cannons, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 2 tries against the Toronto Wolves. Not only did the Wolves break his 23-game hitting streak, they also beat Cincinnati by the score of 11-0.
"Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Chapin said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate."
So far this year, Chapin is batting .349 with 25 home runs and 76 RBIs. | | |
