Moriarty at His Best, Blanks Milwaukee
Wednesday, September 18th , 1901
The Milwaukee Cream Caps manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Minneapolis Lumberjacks. The Cream Caps were overpowered by Minneapolis starter Ed Moriarty, who hurled his club to victory, 5-0.

"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Jack Wakeham said.

Over 9 innings, Moriarty blanked Milwaukee on 5 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.

"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Moriarty said.

"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

To date this year, Moriarty shows a 20-11 record, 33 starts, 292 innings, 105 strikeouts and a 2.10 ERA.
