| Tinsley Announces Retirement Thursday, May 9th , 1963 Chet Tinsley said years of hard work have taken their toll on him physically, and he's decided it's now time to retire.
"I don't know any way other than full throttle, I've always been that way," he said. "Going so hard for so many years might have cost me some time on my career, but I don't regret a thing."
The Pittsburgh Miners catcher is leaving the game behind at age 36.
Tinsley is batting .229 with 209 career base hits, including 41 doubles, 2 triples and 24 home runs with 111 RBIs and 109 runs scored. He has played in 392 games, stolen 0 bases and compiled a .329 OBP. | | |
