| Dellinger Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 22 Saturday, April 27th , 1963 Harry Dellinger saw his 22-game hitting streak wither and die during the Philadelphia Keystones win over Boston at Minuteman Stadium. The 24-year-old center fielder was held hitless in 5 at-bats by the Boston Minutemen, but his teammates produced enough offense to win the game, 9-8.
"Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Dellinger told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 22 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good."
Dellinger's current batting average stands at .393 and he has chalked up 5 home runs and 10 RBIs. | | |
