| Star of the Week Awarded in FA Monday, September 1st , 1975 New York fans have something to crow about today as New York first baseman Paul Church nabbed the Federal Association Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days.
"I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Church.
He posted a .480 average (12-for-25) this past week with 1 home run, 5 RBIs, and 3 runs scored.
Church has collected 135 hits for the Gothams this year, 10 of them home runs. He has also netted 51 RBIs and scored 63 runs while batting .276. | | |
