Lew Davison brutalized the St. Louis Pioneers pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 7-3 Philadelphia victory at Pioneer Field III. The Philadelphia Keystones second baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day.

"I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one."

For the game, he went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

"Too much Lew Davison today," Pioneers manager Babe Johnson said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to."

Lew Davison hit a solo-shot off Tige Bowe in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Sam Stephenson in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Sam Stephenson in the 9th.

In his season totals Davison has 20 home runs and a .277 batting average.
