 | San Francisco Pilot Zecher Acclaimed CA Best Tuesday, October 23rd , 1962 Club officials have reported seeing Walt Zecher at the ballpark as early as 7 am. His dedication, coupled with a shrewd management style and a knack for knowing "who's hot and who's not" earned Zecher the Continental Association Manager of the Year Award for 1962. "I guess you could say I pushed all the right buttons at the right time for the Sailors to have the season we did. But keep in mind, too, that I also had a group of dedicated ballplayers who played their hearts out. I thank them for winning this award for me." There was much joy in San Francisco this season. Their beloved Sailors took first place in the Continental Association, rounding out the year with a 98-56 record. |   |
