 | Briggs Gone for Season in Pittsburgh Saturday, September 16th , 1950 A blow for Chuck Briggs today -- team doctors confirmed he will miss 4-5 months with a torn labrum. Briggs suffered the injury throwing a pitch. Although officials from the Pittsburgh Miners are confident he'll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about Briggs's ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature. So far this season, Briggs has logged a 1-5 record with a 7.46 ERA. He has started 8 games, hurled 41 innings and registered 17 strikeouts and 42 walks. |   |
