No Late-Season Magic Coming: Detroit Out of Playoffs
Thursday, October 4th , 1962
The Detroit Dynamos clubhouse had a subdued atmosphere today, as it became official that the Dynamos had officially missed the postseason.

"We were close, but not close enough," Detroit manager Verlin Alexander said.

The Dynamos have missed the playoffs 58 times in their 71 years as a Federally Aligned Baseball Leagues franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 4th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 1958. In the last 10 seasons, the Dynamos have made the playoffs 6 times. Detroit last won the World Championship Series in 1958.
