Cincinnati Loses Wally Hunter, Will Miss Season
Thursday, August 30th , 1962
The doctors have spoken and Wally Hunter of the Cincinnati Cannons didn't like what he heard. The 40-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Hunter sustained his season-ending injury during the Montreal Saints game yesterday at Stade Montreal. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Cincinnati medical staff reported Hunter had a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament and would be absent from the lineup for at least 7 months.

Currently Hunter has 26 relief appearances, saving 2. His record is 1-1 with 30 strikeouts in 58 innings and a 6.52 ERA.
