| Injury Sidelines Earl Skains for Season Wednesday, June 4th , 1975 Atlanta right fielder Earl Skains could miss the remainder of the season because of a fractured knee. He exited yesterday's St. Louis game after injuring himself while running the bases. The original diagnosis said Skains would be out 6 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
Skains is hitting .234 for the season with 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 32 hits in 137 at-bats and played in 44 games. | | |
