| New York Resolve Tested in 3-2 Win | The New York Imperials, despite a fine performance by Montreal pitcher Tommy Jackson, grabbed a 3-2 win at Dyckman Stadium. Jackson allowed no runs over 7.2 innings. Reliever Mike Dunlavy picked up the win. His record improves to 4-1. Roy Wheeler took the loss. The New York win streak is now 3 games.
New York got a knockout punch from Pete O'Leary. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"This place sure got loud," said Jim Abernathy, the New York manager. | |
