| Chiefs Victorious at Minneapolis, 10-3 | The Chicago Chiefs defeated the Minneapolis Millers, 10-3, at Hennepin County Stadium. Rod Shearer, who led the FA in RBI with 133 in 1954, was a standout performer for Chicago. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 4 he knocked in. Joe Cipolla, who finished 5th in the FA in saves with 10 in 1956, was the winner. He's now 3-4. The loser was Bill Smith. With the win, the Chiefs hiked their record to 23-19.
With Chicago leading 2-0 in the top of the second, Shearer hit a fastball from Bill Smith for a bases-clearing double. It was his 6th double of the season and put the Chiefs ahead, 5-0.
Shearer told the Chicago Herald: "I'm the straw that stirs the drink."
