| Minutemen Lose to Millers, 5-3 | The Minneapolis Millers picked up a win at Hennepin County Stadium, downing the Boston Minutemen, 5-3. On the mound for Minneapolis was right-hander Bill Smith, who played a pivotal role in the win. The Millers raised their record to 33-55.
In the bottom of the fifth, Minneapolis second baseman Roy Gass had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Gass stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 4-3, Minneapolis. For the game, he was 1 for 3 with a walk.
"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Smith.
