| Millers Get Gritty, 3-2 Win | The Minneapolis Millers took Detroit pitcher Larry Tindall's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Thompson Field. The final score had Minneapolis getting past the Dynamos, 3-2. Tindall went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 4. Ben Baird earned his 8th save, after closing out the game. Minneapolis is 17-19 and Detroit, with the loss, 13-23.
Minneapolis used the timely hitting of Malcom Bronk to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Millers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
After the game, Minneapolis manager Harry Hammond applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said. | |
