The New York Gothams could not turn a fine performance from center fielder Otto Pilkerton into a win. Instead, the Washington Eagles prevailed, 11-5. Pilkerton was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Owen Lantz got the win, improving to 7-2. He pitched 8.2 innings, giving up 12 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Alex Wilson had a big 2-run home run for the Eagles in the bottom of the second inning. With Washington trailing 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Les Freedman, who is tied for 10th in the FA with a 1.37 WHIP, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Eagles ahead, 3-2.
