| Stars Knock Off Mavericks at Bigsby Stadium | Kansas City second baseman Bob Howard had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Howard went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs, even as Los Angeles beat the Mavericks, 8-4. The win puts Los Angeles at 22-15 this season.
Ralph Barrell had a big 3-run home run for the Stars in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Los Angeles trailing 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 34-year old left-handed pitcher Clay Buddemeyer and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Stars on top, 4-3.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Barrell, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
