| Gothams Absorb 7-4 Loss at Pioneer Field III | Though he had a terrific game, Bill Arndt could not prevent his team, the New York Gothams, from absorbing a loss. St. Louis won the game, 7-4. Arndt was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. The save went to Charlie Christianson, number 2 for him. The last-place Pioneers have won 5 in a row.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from left fielder Danny Davis. For the game, Davis was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave St. Louis a 4-2 lead.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said St. Louis manager Babe Johnson.
