| Minneapolis Downed, 7-4, by Eagles | Bill Powell did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Minneapolis Millers from being beaten, 7-4, to the Washington Eagles at Columbia Stadium. Powell went 4-5 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs. The win went to Doc Lindley in relief, making him now 4-1. Ben Baird took the loss for Minneapolis. Glenn Johnson wrapped it up, recording his 2nd save.
Washington took a 5-4 lead on Virgil Belisle's 8th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Belisle hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Minneapolis pitcher Ben Baird visibly frustrated.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Belisle said.
The Millers, now 19-17, have lost 4 in a row.
