| Win Streak Now at 6 for Copperheads | Atlanta beat Chicago in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Atlanta Copperheads scooped up a win at Peachtree Stadium, dumping the Chicago Chiefs, 5-1. Marco Middleton, who led the FA in innings pitched with 295.2 in 1972, was essential to his team's success. Atlanta has now won 6 straight.
The Copperheads got a big at-bat from first baseman Earl Skains. For the game, Skains went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 4th double of the season gave Atlanta a 3-1 lead.
"Marco was in attack mode the whole game," said Atlanta manager Don Fox. | |
