| Miners Deal Gothams 4-1 Defeat | Pat Simon brought his A-game to help Pittsburgh defeat the New York Gothams, 4-1. Frank Maxwell finished to wrap up his 5th save. Pittsburgh, at 44-40, sits in 4th place in the Federal Association.
In the bottom of the third, Pittsburgh first baseman Bill Wise had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Wise stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 1-0, Pittsburgh. For the game, he was 3-4 with 3 singles.
"It never gets old," said Wise. "Winning, that is."
