5-1 Loss Extends Philadelphia Skid
The 1974 season is going from bad to worse for Philadelphia.

The Atlanta Copperheads picked up a win at Peachtree Stadium, knocking off the Philadelphia Keystones, 5-1. On the mound for Atlanta was left-hander Howie Burt. He played a key role in the triumph. Burt yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 2. His record improves to 6-0.

The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the fourth inning, but Burt was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Philadelphia trailing 2-0, Burt retired Dick Christian, who grounded out.

The Copperheads improved their record to 23-12 by beating Philadelphia.
